- NaNoWriMo even though my friend, Ed, beat me to 50k words. Good job, Ed. Sorry, did my begrudging tone come through there? Seriously, Ed, congrats. Darn, there's that tone again.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Linda. And also, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself about the results of NaNoWriMo. After all, you did write 50,000 words in less than 30 days. Yes, I did beat you, but I was not invited to give a talk at a national conference in Las Vegas, because of my excellence in teaching and writing....YOU WERE. And that interruption set you behind in your NaNo goal. Yes, yes, yes, I know, even if you hadn't done your Vegas talk, I still would have won, but that topic is better left for another blog. Congrats on Vegas and NaNoWriMo.

ReplyDeleteEd, this is why you're a pastor and I'm not. ;) A little healthy competition and a big dose of humility are good for me. As always, I learned a lot about myself as a writer as I slogged away at it this November. It was fun to have a worthy opponent this year.

Lots of beautiful writing and it's always funny the connections I can make through someone's writing and a simple meeting at a huge conference (I'm the one at NCTE from Idaho with the long curly hair. We exchanged good advice on hair products at the round table discussions. You told me to check out Penny Kittle's books. :-)).
I'm following the blog and look forward to staying connected. I think you are right. I think we have a lot in common. :-)
